Cuba Petroleum well exceeds 8 thousand meters of advance.

For the first time in the largest of the Antilles, a crew of the Cuba Petroleum Company manages to exceed the quota of 8,000 meters in the extended horizontal mode, a record that is materialized with equipment from the Chinese company Gran Muralla.

According to the publication of Empresa de Perforación y Extracción de Petróleo del Centro on the social network Facebook, the readiness of this well took years of preparation and use of advanced tools and software applied to the planned modality.

Located in the town of Camarioca, the well in question is VD 1012, oriented towards the sea and, according to specialists of the oil company, it will continue its advance towards an area of productive interest, as indicated by geological studies.

Called to combat the natural decline of the Varadero oilfield, the state-owned company Cuba Petróleo is undertaking exploration and drilling contracts with foreign entities in a region that extends towards the east of the nation and where there are reserves of commercial interest.
