«Between Memories and Dreams» is the title of the two-person exhibition by amateur artists Elaine Tápanes Soto and Yomar Gómez Martínez, which opened this Tuesday at the Matanzas branch of the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists (ACAA).
The exhibition explores themes ranging from paternal love and the journey of childhood to the dreams of all—those who are children and those who will always be children—with the aim that each visitor can find their own story in the pieces, explained the Matanzas native.

The exhibition comprises fifteen picture books with themes for children, quinceañeras, and weddings, each containing a storybook, accompanied by three related paintings, all entirely handmade.
For upholsterer and visual artist Yomar Gómez Martínez, the birth of his first child was the catalyst that inspired him and his family to rediscover themselves as creators and explore their creativity as a duo in this new project.

With vocals provided by Matanzas-born artist Aniubis Segura Ávila, the event unfolded in a pleasant atmosphere among colleagues who frequently visit the institution.
Antonio Enrique Pérez Marrero, director of the ACAA, highlighted the work of the pair of artisan artists, «unique in their style, with a sensitivity in their work and a use of mixed techniques that honor family tradition.»
