In spite of the material difficulties, the University of Matanzas pays special attention to the logistic, technical and methodological assurances to guarantee the successful start of the 2024-2025 course, next September 16th with the first year students, while the continuing students will return to the classrooms in mid-October.

According to the information provided by the Yumurina academy, the enrollment forecast is 7,700 students in the different course modalities. Of this figure, 1,900 students are expected for the daytime courses, 5,000 have enrolled in the courses by meetings, 600 by distance learning and the rest of the applicants have enrolled in the short-cycle Higher Education programs.

As in the rest of the country, the new academic period in Matanzas will also be atypical, due to the transition made by the Ministry of Higher Education (MES) in Cuba to the traditional calendar and synchronized with the General Education, which implies a greater effort of the university community to ensure the quality of the training process of future professionals in the territory.

Danys Ortiz Diaz, general administrative director of the University of Yumurina, certified that the essential resources are assured, in an interview he gave to Radio 26 on the approach of the opening date of the next academic year.

For a better professional preparation of the teaching staff.

As part of its preparations for the beginning of the new academic year, the University of Matanzas plans to carry out a professional training for the Department Heads and main professors of each career and Faculty.

This was announced at the organizational meeting with the directors of the University, presided over by its Rector Leyda Finalé de la Cruz, in order to ensure a better performance of the functions carried out by these figures, which are essential to guarantee the quality of the training processes.

The work of improvement of its teaching staff has been a constant in the educational vision of the Yumurina institution and constitutes an organizational form of postgraduate education, essential for the updating, improvement, systematization of contents, as well as the development of skills and abilities.

According to Finalé de la Cruz, who also holds a PhD in Sciences, the professional training project that the University of Matanzas is preparing will take into account the specific needs of each Department Head and their main professors, as well as the interests of the academy.
