Integrated volunteer work at Betancourt’s nursing home.

The Dr. Pedro Figueroa Sandelis home for the elderly in the municipality became the site for an integrated volunteer work to ensure the health and well-being of the residents of the facility.

According to Taimí García Cartaya, director of the Leonor Pérez Cabrera Polytechnic School, delegate of the 36th district of the territory and main responsible for the initiative, the activity included sanitation work, donations of clothes and support to the center’s workers, among other proposals.

In a society where aging is increasing every year, it is necessary to encourage this type of activities that, based on policies, programs and strategies of social care, provide an effective response to the problems of this population group and that, in a timely, prompt and responsible manner, enhance the quality of life of our older adults.
