In Matanzas, as in all of Cuba, this April 10th became a day of celebration, creativity and joy on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the founding of the Day Care Centers, but in a special way this municipality was decorated for the occasion, venue of the provincial act in salute to the date.

The celebration in the aforementioned territory, selected for maintaining sustained results in the work of this type of educational institutions, demonstrated the importance of these spaces for the development and integral formation of girls and boys.

According to Radio 26 Lea Ibis Moliner Hernández, head of the early childhood education level in the province, similar activities took place this day in 68 of the 70 Day Care Centers existing in the territory of Matanzas to take care of the little ones of working mothers and families.

She pointed out that the reopening of the two institutions closed for constructive repairs is approaching and emphasized how, in spite of the notable lack of resources and the complex energy context of the country, the teaching staff of these centers, with the support of the families, overcomes the limitations with initiatives and creative alternatives in order to fulfill their educational task of preparing the youngest children for their school years.

She highlighted as another positive indicator the increase in the qualified labor force, with around 230 teaching assistants who started their degree and qualified to occupy positions as educators.

In the days prior to this date, the teachers, families and children in all the institutions developed a program of cultural and educational activities, including meetings of generations of educators, the traditional tribute to Vilma Espín, recognition of founders, creation of teaching aids and other dissimilar initiatives in honor of the anniversary,» said the specialist.

She added that the festivities for the new birthday of these centers also reached the children who receive the benefits of the twelve Children’s Houses in Matanzas.
