The pursuit of a culture of attention to detail in every work space and collective, promoted in the western province of Matanzas, received a special boost this weekend with the massive participation in the national day of voluntary work convened by the Central Workers’ Union of Cuba (CTC).
Although the main gathering was at La Estrella Park in the city, cleaning, weeding, deep cleaning, and painting took place on Saturday and Sunday, «a true demonstration of our people’s commitment to their cities and centers,» affirmed Osmar Ramírez Ramírez, general secretary of the CTC Provincial Committee.
Ramírez called on managers and workers to contribute to cleaning in their communities with daily tasks to maintain hygienic neighborhood areas, especially those surrounding public transportation hubs.

Starring the Heroic Guerrilla Ernesto «Che» Guevara, the first volunteer work took place on November 22nd, 1959, in Caney de las Mercedes, now the Camilo Cienfuegos School City.
