Matanzas celebrates National Rebellion Day (+photos).
On Sunday morning, people from the municipality of Matanzas paid tribute to the heroes and martyrs who participated in the assaults on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks in Bayamo.
With a brief pilgrimage from the central Libertad Park to the foundational La Vigía Square, and a cultural gala, the day served to highlight the achievements of Matanzas in social and economic indicators in the midst of the growing world economic crisis.
The synchronization of the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant, the inauguration of the Monserrate children’s park, the successful completion of the 2022-2023 school year, the differentiated attention to vulnerable groups and the strengthening of the fight against crime and illegalities were some of the highlights.
With the presence of the main directors of the province and the municipality, the city of Matanzas remembered the 70th anniversary of the National Rebellion Day.
