Number of foreign vacationers grows in Varadero.
With an average of 25 thousand tourists per day, four thousand more than in the same period of the previous year, Varadero experiences a high foreign presence in a month of August, traditionally demanded by the domestic market.
This is the result of how little by little some markets are recovering, still far from the referent of before the Covid-19 pandemic, which is 2019, but enough to feel some relief in this 2023, considered Nastia Valdés, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in this western province of Matanzas.
«Tourist flows continue to be dominated by Canada, Russia and Germany in the same order», she informed at a press conference.
The MINTUR’s chief executive in Matanzas pondered the link between arrivals and income, which has meant an over-fulfillment in the current year’s plans.
A key contribution to the increase in emissions corresponds to the restarting on July 1st of the regular direct operations with Russia, from where an increase in arrivals is expected if a third frequency is incorporated to the Varadero airfield of the Rossiya area line, scheduled for next September.
Valdes referred to the training received by managers and employees to optimize communication with Russian tourists in terms of preferences and tastes, actions deployed in the hotels by professionals from the Training Center of the famous Blue Beach.
