The El Roque Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC), in this municipality of Matanzas province, has once again been crowned National Vanguard, the highest category in the socialist emulation system, achieved through its comprehensive performance.
Just recently, the collective, dedicated to sugarcane production, received the accreditation banner, a distinction also earned in the western province of Matanzas by the Demetrio, La Lucía, Batey, and Los Indios UBPCs.
“This marks the second consecutive year of this achievement for the El Roque UBPC, a testament to their hard work and dedication. Congratulations!” posted Hanny Martínez, First Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, on her Facebook profile.
“Their effort and commitment not only benefit the community but also inspire others to follow their example,” she wrote.
Yanet Díaz, from the Provincial Committee of the Central Workers’ Union of Cuba, acknowledged the new «triumph of a productive base among the most outstanding in Matanzas in recent years, both for its performance and compliance with sugarcane plans, as well as in union matters.»
From June to June is the fiscal year for the UBPCs (Basic Units of Cooperative Production). This explains why, unlike other sectors, the sugar industry celebrates the results of the emulation competition during this period. The competition recognizes the economic and union integrity of the collectives, including the absence of criminal activity.
In 2023, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the creation of these structures on September 20th, 1993, the UBPC El Roque was awarded the CTC (Central Organization of Cuban Workers) 80th Anniversary Seal.
