What is planned at CTE Antonio Guiteras for the end of the year and the beginning of next year?
On the verge of completing one month on line, the Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant in Matanzas remains stable at over 270 MW, at a time when managers and workers are finalizing details for a brief shutdown of corrections in the next few hours, after the synchronization of Felton Uno.
Engineer Román Pérez Castañeda, technical director of the largest unitary block of the Island, said that the programmed shutdown should not exceed 72 hours and would only be carried out after checking the online stability of the Holguin unit and depending on the evolution of the national electric power system.
This maintenance would guarantee the permanence of Guiteras on the grid at the end and beginning of next year, explained Pérez Castañeda, who said that the expected capital maintenance is scheduled for October 2024.
The specialist indicated that when the time comes and for no less than 90 days, the boiler will be intervened in depth, an undertaking that will mark the critical route, although improvements will be made to the automatic system, the electrical system and auxiliary equipment.
This is a millionaire investment, but it is essential to enable the Matanzas thermal power plant to remain on line for 90 days, with a generation of around 280 megawatts and a low specific fuel consumption.
