Engineer Román Pérez Castañeda, the technical sub-director, points out that they have finished cleaning the regenerative air heaters and the work on the high-temperature reheater, and today they will carry out the hydraulic tests.
«If all goes well,» Pérez Castañeda notes, «a large part of the boiler will be cleaned, work will continue on the main boiler, and we will repair just over fifty valves.»
This maintenance of the largest single-unit unit on the island includes more than 500 corrective actions, a review of the automatic, electrical, and auxiliary equipment systems; so that next Wednesday, they will attempt to synchronize it with the national power grid, which has a capacity of over 200 megawatts.
