Alejandro Miguel González (Ragnar), from Matanzas, was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the Romanian Super Cup, a tournament that saw his team, Corona Brasov, crowned champion this December.

«If the Romanian Men’s Volleyball Super Cup match had to be summarized in a single image, it would probably be Alejandro González leaping with his arm outstretched, ready to hit the ball more than three meters off the ground,» according to reports from the European nation.

Several sources indicate that the Matanzas volleyball player was much more than just the team’s top scorer, because he stood out for his aggressive serving and blocking, and «constantly conveyed a very clear message: Corona hadn’t traveled to Bucharest just to be the champion’s opponent, but to win.»

It is said that each successful attack was accompanied by a gesture of encouragement towards his teammates and put additional pressure on Dinamo, the team defeated in a final in which Liván Osoria from Santiago also participated.

The publications describe Ragnar’s performance as almost flawless. “He spiked both long and diagonally. He capitalized on the opponent’s block when he had no angle, placed the ball intelligently behind the defensive line, and received difficult balls in challenging reception situations without flinching.”

Alejandro’s versatility as a player shone through. He didn’t limit himself to attacking. He ensured his active participation on defense. One of the most noteworthy moments occurred in the third set when, with a diving save, he recovered a ball that seemed lost, completely changing the dynamic of the game and reigniting Corona’s momentum.

The performance of the 22-year-old, 6’10» athlete confirms his successful recovery from the injury he suffered in April 2024, which damaged his anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus in his right knee and required surgery.

Corona Brașov is the fourth international club where Ragnar has played, having previously played for Sada Cruzeiro, Brazil (2021/2022), Araguari Vôlei, Brazil (2022/2023), and Jihostroj České Budějovice, Czech Republic (2023/24 – 2024/25).
