Government and Party authorities in the province held a distribution council meeting, which allowed them to review the delivery of products to priority destinations within the community.
During the meeting, which also included entities involved in this process such as Empa (the local food distribution company) and the Commerce Group, among others, a call was made to prioritize the delivery of rice for social consumption, such as to soup kitchens that serve as part of the Family Assistance System (SAF), homes for children without family support, and health centers.
Norma Llerena, a member of the Provincial Party Bureau in Matanzas, urged these establishments to enhance their offerings and diversify their menus to provide excellent service during the key dates in December, such as Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
She called for greater effort from the administrators and staff of the Family Assistance Services (SAF) to implement these actions, to which non-state actors and other community stakeholders can also contribute.
The arrangements for the dinners to be offered to healthcare personnel working their shifts during these holidays were also reviewed. A strategy for this was developed by government authorities and healthcare administrators.
These actions, it was indicated, should be extended to nursing homes and maternity homes throughout the province.
