Te ConTé, a Necessary Gathering for This Summer
The social house of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in Matanzas, as usual, promoted the oral storytelling gathering «Te ConTé» on the penultimate Tuesday of each month, led by the Yumurino storytellers «Mamita» de León and Ileana Hernández.
This space, dedicated since its inception to teachers Bonifacio Byrne and Carilda Oliver Labra, had as its theme on this occasion the hat — a garment that has always accompanied our culture.
The program’s hosts addressed this theme in this edition due to the summer season and the protection that this object offers during this time.
The evening gathering had 63 attendees, among whom stood out Conchita Torres and her group, Mercy Llanos, and a representation of workers from the Palacio de Junco museum and the Gener y Del Monte library.
This special moment where different generations converge to share cultural riches turns anecdotes and teachings into books in which to leaf through the city’s memories.
