64th National Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign Underway.
The first stage of the campaign coincides with the 23rd Vaccination Week of the Americas and the 14th World Immunization Week.
From this Monday, April 21st to next Saturday, April 26th, Matanzas joins the 64th National Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign Cuba-2025.
According to Dr. Rafael Guerra Ortega, in charge of the Expanded Program of Immunization at the Yumurino Hygiene Center, in this first stage in the province will be favored about 14 thousand children over one month old and up to three years old.
The children of this group who are sick during these days and do not receive the anti-polio vaccine will have one week of recovery, between April 28th and May 3rd.
Likewise, from June 16t to June 21st, the second stage of the campaign will be carried out, in which another dose will be administered to those who receive the first one, in addition to reactivating it to nine-year-old children, with recovery between June 24th and 28th.
It is important to remember that infants should not ingest water or food half an hour before or after the administration of the vaccine.
Likewise, the director pointed out that in order to carry out the process in Matanzas, conditions have been created in the medical offices, polyclinics and vaccination points corresponding to each health area.
