Activity Held in Matanzas to Celebrate the Anniversary of Carlota Operation.
Amid singing, dancing, and the sound of an orchestra, neighbors transformed a night of blackout into a space for enjoyment where respect and recognition of the Cuban Revolution’s principle of solidarity prevailed.
District number four of the Peñas Altas People’s Council hosted a performance by the Band of the General Staff of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, on the eve of another anniversary of Operation Carlota. The community members enjoyed a program that encompassed a wide range of traditional Cuban rhythms combined with new trends in popular music. The district delegate, Yunior Velázquez Santana, noted that these types of activities are very important for fostering camaraderie between the people and the Armed Forces, reinforcing the principle that the Revolutionary Armed Forces are the people in uniform.
This presentation was held as a prelude to the anniversary of Operation Carlota and with the aim of highlighting the role of the women combatants in society, the same women who are providing aid in the eastern part of the country after Hurricane Melissa, he added.
Captain and politician Roberlandy Linares Pimienta, from the band, noted that they carry out these activities throughout the country and that in Matanzas, in addition to the cultural event, they intend to participate in the commemoration of Operation Carlota.
