Health authorities in Ciénaga de Zapata municipality received medical supplies and equipment from the Canadian project Helping Hands for Cuba, renowned for its consistent support of Cuba in this area.
The shipment of these medical resources, crucial for a vast territory with widely dispersed rural communities and medical posts and facilities that do the impossible with minimal resources, was delivered to the Celia Sánchez Manduley Polyclinic in the town of Playa Larga, the Helping Hands for Cuba team stated, acknowledging that Ciénaga de Zapata was not chosen at random.

«Therefore, we decided to focus this shipment on equipping these small medical facilities with essential supplies and equipment so they can provide initial care, alleviate pain, stabilize patients, and buy time until specialized help arrives,» reported the radio station La Voz de la Victoria.
Helping Hands For Cuba defines itself as a solidarity network that coordinates the delivery of medical supplies, food, clothing, and toys to family doctors, polyclinics, hospitals, and children’s homes in Cuba.
«We work together to ensure that every contribution reaches where it is most needed: medical supplies and equipment, food, and clothing for vulnerable families.»
On its Facebook page, the Canadian organization wrote: «This container is not just carrying medical supplies. It’s carrying care, respect, solidarity, and hope.»

In another post announcing the arrival of these medical supplies, Helping Hands for Cuba clarified that the items in the container will benefit all areas of Matanzas province, and that this is a result of the generosity of those who donate, share, support, trust, and sustain this bridge of solidarity between Canada and Cuba.
They added that the shipment was the culmination of months of quiet work, the helping hands of people who believed, trusted, and demonstrated that helping is indeed possible.
