Cocodrilos de Matanzas reaffirms its position at the top of the Elite League.

On Sunday afternoon, the Cocodrilos de Matanzas defeated the Leones de Industriales in what became their second consecutive victory against the capital and sixth in a row in the second Elite League, thus maintaining this streak that placed, and reaffirms, the pupils of Armando Ferrer at the top of the standings.

At the end of the game, the final score at the Victoria de Girón Stadium was 11×3 in favor of the Cocodrilos, with a total of fourteen hits, two more than Industriales. As a negative aspect we must point out the three defensive errors by the locals.

Yamichel Pérez scored his third victory of the campaign on the mound, while backup Frank Luis Medina completed a perfect four innings of relief without allowing any runs, earning his first save of the League.

Outfielder José Amaury Noroña, who is on fire, hit his fourth home run of the season in 35 at-bats this afternoon, as well as a single, driving in three runs and scoring one.

The capital’s pitching staff was once again weak against Matanzas’ offense, needing five of its members to finish the game.

The defeat went to Pável Hernández, with a negative balance of one win and three losses.

Tomorrow, Cocodrilos and Leones will face each other in the third game of the sub-series at the Victoria de Girón at 6:30 pm.

At the end of the day, Matanzas was alone in first place with 13 wins and nine losses. Industriales and Las Tunas with 12 and 10, followed by Sancti Spíritus with ten and eleven.
