Engineer Román Pérez Castañeda, deputy technical director of the largest unitary block of the Island, said that they expect to maintain the unit without major setbacks, although he pointed out that during the interconnection of the National Electro-energetic System, a slight increase in the consumption of water in the boiler was observed.

The experience of this group, said the specialist, coincides in that we will be able to remain on line for several days, at the same time that the capital maintenance preparation work continues, today over 60 percent of assurance.

In this sense, Mr. Pérez Castañeda said that so far the long-awaited maintenance is estimated for October of next year, enough time to finalize the pertinent negotiations that will allow restoring to the Guiteras no less than 280 megawatts of power and stability on line for more than three months, burning national oil.
