Legality is a basic legal and political principle that allows societies to feel secure in living and coexisting with institutional regularity.

The principle of legality should not be confused with legislation.
Compliance with the law is not the only expression of legality; rather, legality is also a principle of sociopolitical life and a method for governing society.
The following are consequences of observing the principles of constitutionality, legality, and hierarchy of norms:
Principle of equality
Principle of legal certainty
Therefore, a key idea to discuss is how to ensure compliance with the constitutional principle of legality. This implies that legality promotes the legal regulation of society, which is seen through the creation of the law, its coherent integration into the legal system, its official publication and entry into force, its application in accordance with the law, and the verification of its effective implementation.
In this respect, legality is a fundamental legal and political principle that allows societies to feel secure in living and coexisting with institutional regularity. It is important to highlight that a breakdown of legality can have two different but interconnected consequences: affecting society and the State. When this situation persists, democracy is damaged and corrupt practices are fostered.
