Delivery of liquefied gas will be restored in Matanzas after hurricane Rafael’s effects.

This resumption will be possible as long as the product is available, which will allow consumers to once again have access to this essential resource.

José Luis Lemus Gil, head of the liquefied petroleum gas plant area of the Matanzas Fuel Commercialization Territorial Unit, informed this newspaper about the current situation of the liquefied gas supply in the territory.

According to Lemus, the entity has been receiving the necessary product for deliveries through the Energás Varadero and Puerto Escondido plants, with the additional support of Gas Licuado Habana and Cienfuegos. This collaboration is vital to ensure the continuity of the service in the midst of the difficulties caused by the recent hurricane Rafael.

In spite of the efforts made, Lemus confirmed that as of today there is no availability of the product at the local plant. The damage caused by the hurricane has hampered operations, especially in terms of communications. However, the area manager pointed out that the necessary coordination is being carried out to try to load a battery at Energás, which will allow resuming the supply to the affected points of sale.

The reestablishment of the service will depend to a great extent on the capacity to carry out this load. Lemus indicated that, if the operation is successful, from Saturday onwards, the distribution of liquefied gas will begin gradually. This resumption will be possible as long as the product is available, which will allow consumers to have access to this essential resource once again.
