Guiteras Generates 220 Megawatts of Power.
The Matanzas hydroelectric plant recently received a donation of protective equipment and welding equipment, an expression of support for Cuba.
The Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant in Matanzas is maintaining its 220 megawatt output following recent repairs and synchronization.
Engineer Román Pérez Castañeda, the technical sub-director, explained that in anticipation of potential threats, such as increased water consumption, they will keep generation at 220 megawatts instead of the 235 megawatts with which they initially connected to the national power grid.
Thus, the Guiteras workers expect to keep the plant operational until the scheduled shutdown for the long-awaited general maintenance, expected to last approximately 180 days.
Thanks to global solidarity, the Matanzas industrial sector recently received a donation of protective equipment and welding equipment, an expression of support for Cuba in the face of the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government.
