Historians, writers and artists condemn military aggression against Venezuela.

The presidencies of the Union of Historians of Cuba, the UNEAC (National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba), and the Hermanos Saíz Association, along with their provincial branches in Matanzas, condemn the military aggression by the United States government against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

This action violates international laws and treaties and contravenes the Declaration of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), adopted in 2014, which declared Latin America and the Caribbean a Zone of Peace.

The historians indicated that the attacks against military and civilian installations in Bolívar’s sister nation have resulted in civilian deaths; 32 Cubans lost their lives in combat while carrying out missions on behalf of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, at the request of their counterparts in that country.

The kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores also occurred, the true objective of which is to accelerate regime change, the destruction of the Bolivarian Revolution, and the appropriation of the nation’s oil and other resources by the United States.

Likewise, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba emphasized the importance of unity and stated that we have a historical responsibility to denounce the event on all platforms and stand firm in defense of our Revolution.

For its part, the Hermanos Saíz Association’s statement against the U.S. attacks on Venezuela emphasized the right to peace and life.

This attack, the young artists point out, reveals the true nature of imperialism, in its relentless pursuit of its conquering goals of seizing natural resources and the riches of the continent.

The Hermanos Saíz Association called upon young Cuban artists and artists worldwide, peace-loving people, all people of goodwill, and all human beings of dignity to condemn this aggression.

Let us defend peace, justice, the independence of our peoples, and life itself.
