According to López García, one percent of the hospitals are maintained with backup equipment and have guaranteed diesel. Also, another percent received energy from the microsystems that are active in the territory.

In the case of the Cárdenas Julio Aristegui Villamil Hospital, two ventilated patients, three pregnant women and six children with respiratory problems were transferred to the Faustino Pérez Hospital during the night (the latter to the pediatric hospital) and ambulances from other municipalities were made available for their transfer. In addition, generators were installed there in the early hours of the morning.

In the province of Matanzas, 70 adult beds, 16 beds for children and 12 neonatology beds are occupied for critical care. In addition, 77 patients are receiving supplementary oxygen and 40 are using oxygen concentrators.
