Matanzas Musicians Nominated for Cubadisco 2025 Award.

Five artists from Matanzas received nominations for the 29th edition of the Cubadisco 2025 award. In the Trova category, Tony Ávila from Cardená secured his place with the album A quien pueda interesar.
According to what the singer-songwriter shared in his Facebook profile, “it is a proposal for the talent from Cardená with a sample of that local ingenuity that exposes the phonogram under the Colibrí label”.
In this opportunity, the author of songs such as El mundo de los más and Mi casa.cu competes with the album Los dúos, by Amaury Pérez and Canciones que no se extraviaron, by Liuba María Hevia.
Alejandro Falcón y Cubadentro enters the competition this time in the Incidental Music section with their album Renacer, which coincides in that category with the productions Solo segundos, by Caribenostrum & Otrolado DC; Se la vi se la vita fosse solo un libro. Carta de Calvino, by Mónica Marziota and El árbol de los sueños mágicos, a collaboration of Yeny Turiño, Roly Berrío, Yaily Orozco and Tobías Thielo.
The pianist and producer also expressed his joy for this result. “I am immensely happy to be nominated in another edition of Cubadisco with the music of the soap opera Renacer, by Colibrí Productions and to have been part of the DVD of Estrellas de Buena Vista y Más, Live in Havana, which got several nominations,” he posted on his social networks.
He also thanked other recording projects with which he collaborated and which were also nominated: the CD Son del XXI, by Roniel Alfonso Mella, Confluencia de Pianos, by Rodrigo García and the CD Tambor y Salsa del Tumbador, by Augusto Lage Isaac.
On the other hand, Raúl Torres, on this occasion with the National Symphony Orchestra, included his album Nítida fe in the selection of Trova concertante, together with Rodrigo García and the Havana Chamber Orchestra, in Los días de gloria and Amaury Pérez with the National Symphony Orchestra, in Amaury Sinfónico.
With two nominations, in Uncontrolled Ambient Sound Design and Symphonic Music, the Lyceum of Havana, under the direction of Matanzas maestro José Antonio Méndez Padrón, defends Hubert de Blanck, The Wandering Dutchman. Volume 2.
Likewise, actor, director, playwright and researcher Rubén Darío Salazar repeats in Cubadisco with his Notas discográficas al álbum Confluencia de pianos II, by Rodrigo García.
Precisely, the young pianist is the musician with the most nominations, eight in total, for his three productions. With the DVD Los días de gloria, he aspires to the award of Trova Concertante, Diseño De Sonido Ambiente No Controlado and Audiovisual de Larga Duración; in this last section his DVD Confluencia de pianos II is also nominated, which in turn competes in the categories of Instrumental/Vocal and Notas Discográficas; while his CD El piano latinoamericano y yo was nominated for Soloist Concertante and Notas Musicológicas.
Bismusic also stood out among the record labels with 24 nominations in 16 categories. Liuba María Hevia, Rodrigo Sosa, Amaury Pérez, Luis Barbería, Isaac Delgado, Manolito Simonet y su trabuco, and the Anacaona and Aragón orchestras were other artists with several nominations.
A total of 204 works were presented at the International Music Industry Fair. Of these, one hundred were finalists, 80 phonograms and 20 audiovisuals, with 141 nominations in 35 categories, divided into ten competitive areas. The awards will be presented on the 21st.
Cubadisco 2025 will take place from May 18t to 25th in Havana and will be dedicated to the bolero, Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
