Matanzas reigns in Central American school meeting

The young man from Cárdenas is the only representative from Matanzas in the Central American and Caribbean School Sport Games 2023.

The pugilist Bárbaro Julio Quevedo Ramírez, won the gold medal this Tuesday in the 48 kg during the fifth day of competitions of the Central American and Caribbean School Sports Games 2023 being held in Caracas, Venezuela.

The young man from Cárdenas was the only representative from Matanzas in the competition, which included eleven sports disciplines, according to Michel Lugo González, provincial boxing commissioner in the territory.

Lugo González also pointed out that this result is a consequence of the evolution of Bárbaro Julio as an athlete, who already reigned in the last two editions of the National School Games in the 46 kg division.

Undoubtedly, these tournaments are the basis of Cuban sport, as they stimulate the development of athletes and are the main stage where they demonstrate their quality.
