After four years without this service, the residents of Matanzas will soon benefit from a new CT scanner recently installed at the Faustino Pérez Provincial Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital, according to information revealed during a tour of several social centers by the province’s top leadership.
The visit included interaction with some of the healthcare staff who were on duty during the holiday season, and the officials inquired about the supplies and provisions arranged for the New Year’s Eve dinner.
The visit also provided an opportunity to learn from the general director, Taymí Martínez Naranjo, about the benefits the arrival and installation of the new CT scanner will bring to the institution. Mario Sabines, the First Secretary of the Party in the province, learned from the director that the new equipment emits less radiation, which will allow for greater protection of patients’ health.
Among the advantages listed was the speed with which results will be obtained, as a more precise and effective diagnosis will be achieved in just seven seconds.
The service will encompass the pediatric population, making Hospital Faustino the ideal center for treating neurotrauma cases in the province.
Daniel Caraballo, a third-year resident in Radiology, shared his joy with the visitors, as the arrival of this equipment will be of great help to his professional training.
«Modern medicine is inconceivable without this high-tech equipment. This momentous occasion for our institution opens a vast window of possibilities and will allow for more comprehensive training for students,» he stated.
He added that today, «we meet certain standards and are on par with leading centers worldwide.»
