Presentation of Matanzas Publishers at the Havana Book Fair

On the 12th, the Matanzas publishers will be presented at the 34th Havana International Book Fair, which will be held from August 11 to 16 at the Cultural Station, located on Línea Street between 18 and 20, in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality.

In information provided to this media by Efrahim Pérez Izquierdo, director of the Provincial Book and Literature Center, we learned that our works will be presented in three time slots: at 11:00 a.m., Vigía; at 2:00 p.m., Aldabón; and at 3:00 p.m., Ediciones Matanzas.

Pérez Izquierdo also noted that the publisher of the Hermanos Saíz Association will bring eight titles, six for youth themes and two related to children. For its part, Ediciones Matanzas will have 25 new releases in various genres, among which poetry stands out, including books awarded in national and international events.

At the fairground, 23 publishers belonging to the territorial system will be present with their works — an idea implemented at the beginning of the millennium by the Commander-in-Chief, to whom the country’s greatest literary festival is dedicated in the centenary of his birth.

Tribute will also be paid to Marilyn Bobes, multi-award-winning poet and narrator, and José Bell Lara, sociologist and reference researcher in Cuban social thought.

These two prominent figures of contemporary Cuban letters, together with Fidel Castro — with his extensive discursive and journalistic work, along with books written about his life and imprint — are part of the special recognition of the cultural event in its 34th edition, which will become a space for convergence to share, dialogue, and combine different forms of literary production and analysis.

It will be a new opportunity to bring together authors, editors, readers, and the general public to promote reading, with the Martí premise that «Reading is Growing.»
