Regaining discipline: a key step to protecting our health.

Together, with patience and teamwork, we can regain discipline and protect our health. Let’s keep our city clean!

«Opening a store is easy, keeping it is difficult,» says a Chinese proverb. In Matanzas and throughout Cuba, we face a similar challenge: maintaining discipline in garbage collection to combat the viruses affecting our population.

Mosquitoes, gnats, and other vectors find garbage dumps and micro-landfills a perfect breeding ground for reproduction, which puts our health and job development at risk.

Although there is a government effort to clean these spaces, the disciplined response of the population is lacking. Discipline is not spontaneous; it is built with effort and perseverance. Previously, there was a schedule for taking out the garbage and another for the garbage truck. Today, that routine has been lost, and recovering it is more difficult than establishing it for the first time.

It is essential to adhere to established schedules for taking out the garbage. Demand clear communication from the authorities about collection times. Actively participate in cleanup and awareness campaigns.

The key lies in collaboration between authorities and the community. Together, with patience and teamwork, we can regain discipline and protect our health. Let’s keep our city clean!
