Roberto Morales Ojeda appreciates Torriente’s first new type of market in the province.
The recently inaugurated marketplace is the first experience of its kind in Matanzas where the customer chooses the products himself and is then weighed by the clerk for subsequent payment.
Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, visited the La Oferta market in Torriente Popular Council .
The recently inaugurated placita is the first experience of its kind in Matanzas where the customer chooses the products himself and then is weighed by the clerk for subsequent payment. In addition, it has the gateways for online payment as transfermóvil and this benefits the population, which mostly receives its salary from magnetic cards. Just when it is one year since the beginning of bankarization in Cuba, the member of the Political Bureau insisted on the use of these channels so that customers can access products so important for food.
According to Yaíma Torres Martínez, administrator of the entity, this new type of market has had great acceptance among the population and the guarantee of maintaining the offers lies in the direct contract with the individual producers of the Credit and Service Cooperatives Antonio Maceo and Vicente Ponce. These markets have revolving credit, which gives them the capacity to pay off debts at the time and not owe the producers.
Likewise, the Provincial Storage Company, when contracting production, gives an advance payment of 20 percent to the farmers, which guarantees a greater seriousness when fulfilling the contracts. In this space Morales Ojeda insisted that prices and assortments must be maintained to meet the demands of the population.
The municipality of Jagüey Grande has eleven markets and reports more than one million pesos per month from the sale of groceries, fruits and vegetables.
