The Spanish Super Cup will be played in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with two semifinals featuring four of the most prominent clubs in Spanish football.

Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao will kick off the competition this Wednesday, while Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid will face off on Thursday. Both matches will begin at 2:00 PM Cuban time.

Barcelona enters the first semifinal as the favorite. They are the defending champions and have a winning record in their recent encounters against Athletic Bilbao. This statistical advantage gives them the edge going into the match, although it doesn’t guarantee an easy game.

Athletic Bilbao will be looking to defy the odds. They are a team that presses high, capitalizes on mistakes in the opposition’s build-up play, and never abandons attacking intent. Their objective will be to impose their rhythm and reduce space to maintain their chances of advancing to the final.

In the other semifinal, Real Madrid appears to be the main contender, backed by their experience in decisive matches. Although their collective performance has been inconsistent, they have players capable of delivering in key moments.

Atlético de Madrid, under the guidance of Diego Simeone, will try to repeat the result achieved in their last league encounter against their city rivals. The Rojiblancos see this Super Cup as an opportunity to lift a trophy again after several seasons without one.

The matches will be played without extra time in case of a draw to avoid overloading the players with games in a season that still has half the campaign remaining.

The semifinals leave room for surprises and will determine the tournament finalists, whose decisive match will be played on Sunday, January 11th. Meanwhile, many fans are already imagining a potential clásico in the final, a scenario.
