The gala of the Cuerda Viva 2024 festival will take place this August 10th. Among the nominees are three representatives from Matanzas, Viely 777, Flava Mix and Ray.
Viely, as this urban pop singer also calls himself, competes in the sections of most popular artist, best pop song and best new artist.
«I never expected it, I really went, I was invited that time to that program, I showed more or less what I do. That day I sang two songs and well, those nominations really came to me out of the blue. You don’t work for awards, but this is like in a way it recognizes the work you do.»
While Ray occupies the categories of best new artist and best urban artist.
«These two are my first nominations and I feel pretty excited, to be honest. Let’s see if I can get the award. Right now I’m ‘cooking’ the first singles I’m going to release. Next month or maybe the month after is when I will release my first official song.»
The Cuerda Viva festival brings together the best of alternative music in Cuba and Matanzas is not far behind with three representatives in that competition.
