However, specialists point out that not all distribution systems operating 24 hours a day have been able to maintain their pumping schedules due to occasional generation shortfalls.

As an example, the shutdowns in the Bello well system are cited, since when a leak occurs, the pumps stop, both those at the Matanzas Municipal Aqueduct’s distribution center and the equipment at the booster pumping stations that supply the neighborhoods of Matanzas.

This has been one of the reasons—according to officials of this entity—why the residents of Versalles have experienced water supply disruptions in recent days, due to interruptions that have prevented continuous supply to the middle and upper areas of this part of the city.

However, distribution to the middle and upper areas of East Matanzas has been strengthened.

The statement also reports that water supplies are being maintained via tanker trucks to all municipalities in the province, thanks to the crucial collaboration of the local People’s Power delegates in each district.

The statement also acknowledged the difficult situation faced by residents of part of the Ciénaga de Zapata municipality, caused by the breakdown of four pumps at various pumping stations.

The Water Authority, headed by Deputy Director General Guillermo Cue, has outlined the necessary strategies to address these breakdowns and mitigate the water shortage in this southern region.
