As an eternal defender of the historic ties that connect Cuba and Africa and that transcend to the present day, Hebert Poll Gutiérrez glorifies the richness of those customs and traditions through his art.
The journey of this renowned Matanzas native and Canadian ranges from Social Communication, Sociocultural Animation and Public Relations, to playwriting, oral narration and writing, as well as the publication of several texts where he ponders his deep-rooted passion for the third largest continent in the world and the Caribbean Island where he was born.
Precisely, during his recent visit to the municipality of Pedro Betancourt, he presented his project Emi Laara: small stories to dream where, in correspondence with the literary volume of the same name that he wrote with his mother Gladys Felicia Gutiérrez Rodríguez, he narrates through various artistic manifestations the picturesque adventures and tricks of those characters from the Afro-Cuban santeria known as lucumíes.
