Solidarity with Venezuela is felt in Pedro Betancourt.
Solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was palpable in Pedro Betancourt territory, where labor and student groups staged demonstrations in support of the Venezuelan people and condemned the aggression perpetrated against President Nicolás Maduro Moros and his wife, Cilia Flores, on January 3rd.

At the headquarters of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, government officials held a special morning meeting where Lieutenant Colonel Osmel Valencia Sánchez read the official statement from the Cuban Revolutionary Government repudiating the U.S. offensive. In addition to offering an analysis of the region’s political and military situation, he emphasized the need to maintain Latin American unity in the face of external interference.
On the other hand, the workers of the Matanzas Tobacco Collection and Processing Company also demonstrated their rejection of the intervention of the US government on Venezuelan soil and, under the slogan «Venezuela is not alone», reaffirmed the historical brotherhood between this people and the largest of the Antilles, as well as the commitment of the Matanzas tobacco workers to the defense of sovereignty and peace in Latin America.
These proposals were also replicated at the Dionisio Morejón Morejón Pre-University Institute and the Leonor Pérez Cabrera Polytechnic School, where students and teachers emphasized the importance of global fraternity, the self-determination of peoples, and the responsibility of new generations in preserving international solidarity.
Likewise, at October 28th and January 28th Junior High Schools, located in the city of Pedro Betancourt and the Güira de Macuriges People’s Council, respectively, the young voices of the students stood out. Honoring the island’s tradition of solidarity, they embraced the mission of continuing this legacy in support of the dignity and sovereignty of the sister South American nation.
With these initiatives, the people of Pedro Betancourt reaffirmed their internationalist commitment and extolled the safeguarding of the continent as a zone of peace, while celebrating the strength of the ties between the lands of José Martí and Simón Bolívar, as bulwarks against any attempt at subjugation or foreign intervention.
