Emisora provincial de Matanzas, Cuba, La Radio de tu Corazón

Cuba and Switzerland: Nations That Taste of Art.

Performing on the stage of the Matanzas Arena was a gift, a unique opportunity, and a source of pride that provided an ideal space to enjoy the work of two countries committed to art.

To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of Belgian Week in Cuba, the Sauto Theater in Matanzas, a National Monument, hosted a children’s performance in its main hall. The show was presented by the international company Andrayas and the local Teatro de las Estaciones.

Under the direction of Maestro Rubén Darío Salazar and with the dedicated performances of artists Markus Schmidt and Stéphane de Rycke, members of the Swiss theater group, the event unfolded amidst unusual musical instruments and colorful objects, with the audience cheering at every moment of the gala.

The story, Violi-Voilà, tells the tale of two travelers, a mime and a violinist, who, through an audiovisual narrative where sounds materialize into jellyfish, sunfish, and whales, immerse the viewer in a celebration of life and human creation.

Markus Schmidt, director and founder of the theater group specializing in object animation, explained that the tour will include other provinces such as Havana, Artemisa, and Pinar del Río, and that they will return to Matanzas, known as the Athens of Cuba, next March with an invitation to the International Puppet Festival-Workshop.

In the presence of representatives from the Belgian embassy in Cuba and other members of the theater community in the region, the visitors expressed that performing on the stage of the Matanzas Theater was a gift, a unique opportunity, and a source of pride that provided an ideal setting to enjoy the work of two countries committed to the arts.
