ELLAS También Producen in Jovellanos
The international project «ELLAS También Producen» (They Also Produce) deployed in recent days an intense day of campaign and training actions at the municipal commerce directorate of Jovellanos. The initiative, which promotes female entrepreneurship and leadership, brought together specialists and beneficiaries to strengthen the commercial skills of its associates.
With microphone in hand and walking through the municipality’s streets, the campaign team raised awareness among the population about the importance of greater female participation in local food systems. Subsequently, in the training space, tools for economic empowerment were addressed, and successful experiences of local women entrepreneurs were shared.
The project, which directly benefits more than 4,000 women in Matanzas, has delivered irrigation systems, cultivation houses, and multipurpose equipment in the municipalities of Jovellanos, Perico, and Los Arabos. These actions are part of an integrated strategy to promote food sovereignty and gender equity in vulnerable territories.
The day concluded with a call to continue breaking down stereotypes and recognizing the leading role of women in local economic development. «ELLAS También Producen» thus consolidates itself as an example of integration between production, training, and social commitment, while turning Jovellanos into a reference point for empowerment and sustainability.
