Gaudencio’s Most Martí-Inspired Poem
Distinguished Matanzas writer Gaudencio Rodríguez Santana presented his chapbook «Concepto» at the Matanzas Pharmaceutical Museum on the occasion of the International Book Fair in the territory.
The volume contains a single poem that delves into how a photo of Martí placed in the wrong place led the author to develop an extended reflection with hundreds of ideas.
In these pages, he unfolds questions about contemporary Cuban society and reflects in each line the dense situation our country is going through on the socioeconomic level.
«Not everything comes from the most idyllic life; there are serious problems that affect us, and delving into them is a way of creating awareness,» explained the creator.
This is a Martí-inspired text that will later be added to a poetry collection of his authorship that is in progress, which will be received by Ediciones Matanzas.
Rodríguez Santana confessed that although poetry often struggles to retain an audience, he hopes that people can recognize the value of works that capture reality with all its nuances.
During the gathering, which took place in the presence of colleagues and followers of local literature, the artist read other texts of his while sharing the motivations that led him to write «Concepto.»
This chapbook, published by Ediciones Vigía and first presented on May 19 in the city of Matanzas, constitutes one of the most promising proposals of this Book Fair.
