Faults Detected in Hard-to-Reach Areas of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant
Following the pneumatic test on the boiler of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant in this Yumurino city, faults were detected in a hard-to-reach area of the low-temperature reheater.
Immediate corrective actions will have the support of specialized welders and personnel from the districts of the electric plant maintenance company from Felton, Santa Cruz, Cienfuegos, as well as from the Central Repair Base, the Technical Services Unit, and the National Mechanics Workshop.
Directors of the Electric Union confirmed that, in the most favorable scenario, completion of the work is expected tomorrow to resume the hydraulic test that would give the go-ahead to begin startup.
Today’s energy context is complex, with the shutdown of a unit at El Mariel and unit number three at Cienfuegos, resulting in a deficit exceeding 2,200 Megawatts during peak demand hours.
However, specialists on the subject consider the entry of two units during the early morning hours very possible, which would mean an injection of no less than 200 Megawatts, to guarantee a slight improvement.
