The Alejandro Marcelino Hernández Sentmanat Indoor Football Championship is not only a platform to showcase sports skills, but also a tribute to an educator who left an indelible mark on the students of the University of Matanzas.

Football lovers at the University of Matanzas inaugurated this Monday the Alejandro Marcelino Hernández Sentmanat 2024 Indoor Football Championship. This event, which pays tribute to the memory of the outstanding professor, has become an annual tradition that promotes sports and camaraderie among students.

Raúl Antonio Velasco Barani, professor of the Department of Physical Education of the Yumurina house of higher studies, stressed to this editor the importance of this type of initiative for the university community, in addition to informing that in this edition of the championship eight teams are participating, which have been divided into two groups for the
qualifying phase.

According to the professor, each group will compete intensely to determine the two best teams that will advance to the semifinals and finals scheduled for next November 28.

«This structure not only ensures a high competitive level, but also fosters sportsmanship and collaboration among the participants,» acknowledged Velasco Barani.
