Matanzas hosts from today the Iberoamerican Congress of the Tenth and Improvised Verse (+audio and program).

Dedicated to the centenary of Adolfo Alfonso, an important Cuban point culturist and National Music Award winner, «the event will focus on the presence of women in the tradition, strategies to motivate the approach of new generations to these expressions of our cultural identity and the place of the décima and improvised verse within the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ibero-America,» explained Luis Paz, Papillo, president of the Congress organizing committee.
The conclave includes a scientific program in which there will be spaces for exchange among representatives of this cultural modality from Puerto Rico, Spain and Cuba, master lectures, panels, visual arts exhibitions, book presentations, visits to places of interest and community parties.
The opening gala on Friday night will be held at the Casa de la Música in Varadero. The theoretical event will be held at Varadero’s Arenas Blancas Hotel in the morning, while the Ibero-American Youth Meeting of Poetic Improvisation is scheduled to take place at Casa Naborí in Limonar on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, the Cárdenas movie theater will host the closing night party, which will commemorate the 174th anniversary of the first hoisting of the national flag in the Flag City.
