Matanzas solidarity embraces Camagüey.

A load of solidarity representative of all the trade unions of Matanzas was already received in the brother territory of Camagüey, affected by the heavy rains at the beginning of June that caused floods and damage to houses.

Clothes, toiletries, shoes and toys for the little ones were contained in the houses that for several days had been received at the headquarters of the Provincial Committee of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) in Yumurinos.

The initiative started from the workers themselves and then turned into a massive mobilization, which was joined by the contribution of the mass organizations, the Party and the Government, said Teresa Montelier Cuesta, member of the CTC Secretariat in charge of the Ideological sphere.

We bring this from the heart and it’s something you don’t see anywhere else in Cuba. People contribute their grain of sand and take off their own to give it. It is also a sign of the unity and commitment of our working people.

In August it will be one year since the disaster at the Supertanqueros Base and on that occasion Cuba and the world joined us and now, of course, it was our turn to support Camagüey and the eastern provinces that were affected by the rain.

On behalf of the people of Camagüey, Yulián León Rondón, secretary general of the Provincial Committee of the CTC, expressed his gratitude for the aid. This is precisely what the Commander in Chief taught us: to share what we have, not to give what we have too much. And these gestures exalt the people and the workers much more, he pointed out.

In this way, Matanzas joined Villa Clara, Sancti Spíritus and Artemisa, provinces that also embraced with the same altruistic actions to the needy of the land of Major Ignacio Agramonte.
