Progress is being made on the solution to the boiler leak in Guiteras.

Engineer Román Pérez said that if there are no setbacks, it could take until late Sunday or, at the latest, Monday before peak demand time, to solve the problem.
At the Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant in Matanzas, promising progress is being made in the solution of the hermeticity of the so-called dead chamber of the boiler, a failure that conditioned the output, and at the same time the condenser is being cleaned, and valves are being repaired and adjusted, among other tasks.
Engineer Román Pérez Castañeda, deputy technical director of the entity, commented that members of the Power Plant Maintenance Company and workers of the plant are working, so that as soon as the work on the boiler is certified, the start-up process will begin.
When asked about this, Pérez Castañeda said that if there are no setbacks, it could take until late Sunday or, at the latest, Monday before peak demand hours to correct the breakdown.
Specialists agree in affirming that after the incorporation of the Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant to the national electro-energy system, it could deliver around 260 megawatts, with a good record of specific fuel consumption.
