Revolutionary Commander Ramiro Valdés Menéndez urges to speed up the completion of the Matanzas supertanker base.

Revolutionary Commander Ramiro Valdés Menéndez inquired about the state of preparation for the capital maintenance of the Guiteras thermal power plant and the progress of negotiations to bring the Matanzas block to generate close to 300 megawatts, with improvements in the time spent on line and energy consumption.

To speed up the rehabilitation of the Matanzas supertanker base as much as possible, in accordance with its strategic importance for the nation, is the demand of the country’s top leadership, reiterated this morning the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, during a visit to the investment.

How much does it cost not to do? The First Deputy Minister asked himself when inquiring about the variables to incorporate new techniques and consolidate an intelligent design of the work, which will allow shortening the completion terms of the four tanks under construction, the transfer systems, fire protection and automation of the so-called Yumurino oil node.

At the Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant, Valdés Menéndez reflected with young people on the meaning of understanding history and commitment to the current situation.

Engineer Rubén Campos Olmos, general director of the largest unitary block of the Island, commented that the industry generates 230 MW and they are finalizing details to solve in a short term the high consumption of water in the boiler and to continue with the details of the capital maintenance programmed for the middle of next year.

Valdés Menéndez inquired about the state of preparation for the capital maintenance and the progress of the negotiations to bring the Matanzas block to generate close to 300 megawatts, with improvements in the time of permanence on line and energy consumption.

Since Guiteras began to burn Cuban crude in 1992, it has consumed more than nine million tons and in spite of the high sulfur and asphaltene content, which shorten maintenance periods, it remains the most efficient in the nation, with a specific fuel consumption of only 240 grams per kilowatt-hour.
