UIC Matanzas promotes the country’s development.
The representation of the UIC in the province of Matanzas celebrates its eighth anniversary this December 15th and accumulates important results that are noticeable in the territorial development.
The Union of Cuban Informatics (UIC) in the province of Matanzas aims not only to bring together specialists and technicians in the field and promote their scientific and professional growth, but also contributes to the development of the country’s policies such as informatization, government and electronic commerce, among others.
The organization’s representation in the province of Matanzas celebrates its eighth anniversary this December 15 and has accumulated important results that are noticeable in the territorial development, as explained by its president Fidel Pancorbo.
Undoubtedly, the creation of a board of directors to promote projects was one of the most important actions and led to the creation of the Matanzas Scientific and Technological Park, the second of its kind in Cuba.
The UIC stands out for supporting the creative capacities of its members and it has gained great experiences under its umbrella, such as the apk Mi Constitución and Matanzas325, the e-commerce platform Agrominuto, the Qr system for the distribution of products, among others.
It also contributed to maintain the Informatics career in the province and, according to its president, collaborates in the professional placement of graduates.
Although in the beginning they lacked premises, today they have 22 grassroots organizations and are present in all the municipalities of the western Cuban territory.
Precisely Kenia Vera Pacheco, president of the grassroots organization of the Scientific and Technological Park, highlighted how in this period they have contributed to the digital transformation and train people on the use of payment gateways and others.

The Union of Computer Scientists of Cuba was founded on March 7th, 2016 at the Havana Convention Palace. For this, events were held in each province and the one in Matanzas took place on December 15th, 2015.
It is a social, self-financed and non-profit organization of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) professionals. It has a social character and national scope with territorial structures in each of the provinces and the Special municipality of the Isle of Youth.
It has a professional and scientific profile that is constituted under the protection of the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba. It is based on the unity of all its members around the social project and the economic model promoted by the Cuban Revolution, as well as its transforming effort.
