Matanzas Reinforces Control Against Crimes Against the Electrical Service

The main authorities of Matanzas evaluated the increase in theft of dielectric oil from transformer banks. In response to these events, they insisted on reinforcing vigilance and protection of these facilities, while warning that the law will be strictly applied against crimes of sabotage and other actions that affect the electrical service.

Precisely, today a trial was held in the Criminal Chamber of the Jovellanos Municipal Court, in which these crimes were judged for their impact on the current electroenergetic context.

During the videoconference, the comprehensive inspection exercise that, for the second consecutive week, is being carried out in the territory was also evaluated, directed at state and private economic actors. The actions are aimed at confronting excessive prices, particularly of basic necessity products, verifying the proper use of payment gateways, and checking compliance with tax obligations.

In the case of the municipality of Matanzas, 21 economic actors were visited in the city. As a result of the inspections, the closure of two establishments was ordered: one for 12 hours and another for six months. Additionally, the decrees applied amount to approximately 99,000 pesos in fines.

In this regard, the need to avoid refusal to use digital payments and to ensure that consumers have alternatives to carry out their transactions was reiterated.

During the meeting, emphasis was also placed on the importance of addressing and providing timely and accurate responses to complaints and concerns from the population — a priority responsibility for those who lead processes and services directly linked to the lives of Matanzas residents.

Authorities noted that a significant part of the dissatisfaction is concentrated in Cárdenas, Jovellanos, and the city of Matanzas, so it was called upon to strengthen follow-up on these concerns and prevent problems from remaining unanswered.

The delivery of cash to economic actors was also specified, one of the measures announced by the Central Bank of Cuba in July.

Likewise, it was directed to maintain the necessary organization to guarantee cash delivery to retirees — another issue that demands follow-up in the current economic conditions.

The meeting allowed for a comprehensive evaluation of issues that directly affect the population, from the stability of the electrical service and the protection of resources intended to guarantee it, to price behavior, payment mechanisms, and attention to the main concerns of citizens.
