Antonio Guiteras CTE Synchronizes with the SEN.

The Guiteras CTE is online, increasing power, and with stable parameters.
After solving the fault in the turbine’s automatic line, workers at the Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant in Matanzas synchronized it with the national electrical energy system at 11:48 a.m. this Tuesday. Engineer Rubén Campos Olmos, general director, commented that despite each startup being risky, stability is seen in the overall parameters and power is being gained.
In this regard, Campos Olmos specified that the strategy consists of scaling up to 200 megawatts, maintaining this capacity for a period of time, and measuring water consumption. This will determine whether the plant will continue to reach 220 megawatts and stabilize at that load.
The expertise of Guiteras specialists and workers quickly identified the fault, fixed it, and made small adjustments to maximize the boiler’s temperature and achieve resumption of operation amid a tense situation of generation deficit.
Guiteras CTE Online If all goes well during the restart, workers at the Matanzas unit could be attempting synchronization this afternoon, journalist José Miguel Solís comments on his Facebook profile. Engineer Román Pérez Castañeda, deputy technical director, explained that a reading on the turbine’s automatic protection was the cause of the abrupt shutdown of the Matanzas block at 5:55 a.m., an anomaly that has now been resolved.
He specified that during startup, the block’s operating parameters will be closely monitored, and while it is equally true that the unit is operating within a range of uncertainty, up to this point the unit is operating stably. The intention is to resume generation and remain online for this month and perhaps longer, until the CARS cleaning is necessary, the specialist stated.
The Antonio Guiteras thermal power plant is also experiencing an overconsumption of water of approximately 50 cubic meters per hour, affecting the supply to the city of Matanzas. Although measures have been implemented to alleviate the situation, the definitive solution would come with the installation of a desalination plant, which is included in the capital maintenance program.
