Inauguration of a space for dance improvisation in Matanzas.

This weekend took place the inauguration of the dance improvisation space of the matancera company Danza Espiral.

Based in the Patio Colonial of the Hermanos Saíz Association in Yumurina, the space aims to «provoke the real and honest improvisation of the dancers,» according to the dance group on its social networks.

On this occasion, Lilian Padrón, director of Danza Espiral, also shared with those present details about the fourteenth edition of Danzandós, a prestigious competition that dates back to the 1990s.

Padrón emphasized that since the previous edition, the central competition has been held with professionals and an experiment has been started with middle school students to allow them to participate in this event.

The dancers were accompanied by students from the Provincial School of Music, who performed an anthological piece from the Brazilian repertoire on cello.

The recently inaugurated space for dance improvisation of the company Danza Espiral became an opportunity for the young dancers from Matanzas to share the magic of improvisation through movement.
