Matanzas back in baseball postseason

 

The Matanzas team will once again be in another stage of the play offs of the Cuban baseball championships, after placing sixth in the regular phase of the 62nd National Series.

The «Cocodrilos», with a total of 40 wins and 35 losses, will have as their opponent in the quarter finals the team of Artemisa, a debutant in the post-season,

This will be the eleventh time in the last twelve tournaments in the country that the team from Matanzas reach the defining round. The only Matanzas absence occurred in the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals in the regular round.

Before the 51st National Series (2011-2012), teams with the name of Matanzas had competed in19 campaigns in which they won 678 games and lost 935, for an average of 420.

As of this 51st tournament, and up to the qualifying stage of this Series number 62, the Yumurinos have the best average of wins and losses of all the teams in this period, with 656 wins and 398 losses, an average of 6.5 points.
398 losses, an average of 619.

Another outstanding fact is that if they manage to beat Artemisa in the quarterfinals, they would be fighting to reach their eleventh presence on the awards podium.

Before the current Series, in these years analyzed, indisputably the best in their history, they have one gold, four silver and five bronze medals.
