Productive Gift for Fidel’s Centenary
Areas adjacent to the Transit House of the Cuban Workers’ Central (CTC) in Matanzas were transformed this weekend, as part of one of the many productive mobilizations to welcome the centenary of Fidel Castro Ruz’s birth.
It is no easy task to cut down marabú weeds, remove them, and avoid their thorns. Even so, men and women threw themselves against them, determined to leave those lands ready to build a farm there — a food source for a collective like that of the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant.
«There is no better way to honor the eternal Commander-in-Chief than with work, with the sweat of our brows, as he taught us,» said Osmar Ramírez Ramírez, general secretary of the Provincial CTC Committee, as he paused his work for a few minutes.
The union leader accompanied those who gathered there, convinced that the responsibility for food autonomy lies in the hands of the entities, in such difficult times for the national economy, prevented from having a normal environment for its development due to the blockade of the United States government against Cuba.
Ramírez reiterated the commitment of the people of Matanzas to the defense of revolutionary achievements and the legacy of Fidel Castro, a eloquent show, he noted, that «Fidel lives in every Cuban who works for the Homeland.»
The productive days are part of a program of activities that, under the name «Fidelísimos,» is taking place in Matanzas to celebrate the centenary of the Commander-in-Chief’s birth, an event that occurred on August 13, 1926, in the Birán region, eastern province of Holguín, noted the newspaper Girón.
These are gifts that take place in centers of goods and service provision, in culture, sports, and society in general, a sign of the imprint of the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution on a people like that of Matanzas, whom he described as hardworking, revolutionary, and cultured.
